Since no firmware update is currently offered for the OWC Mercury EXTREME Pro 6G SSD, no update page exists. The Apple drive is a true 1tb drive. This is only 960GB. Microsoft mouse driver for mac. Both Apple and their competitor Transcend honestly advertise the size.
The actual performance is not as advertised either.Minus 1 star. Boot time from power on to the apple logo is 15+ seconds. 30-40+ if booting from an alternative source. Compared to the genuine Apple drive that only take 2-3 seconds! I called OWC and spoke to CS who handed me off to TS. The guy was nice, but tried to blame it on Apple's firmware and drivers. Upon addressing this with Apple and the Guinness bar these drives are aftermarket and officialy unsupported.
I have 3 of these drives and 4 devices all exhibiting the same results. Running drive performance software yields less then advertised results. However the results are on par with Apple's genuine NVMe drives less the boot times. Overall, this is the cheapest upgrade for those with smaller drives. But performance is not as advertised.
