The laptop still works, its just the screen is cracked. I can work with a cracked screen but I still called up and made an appointment for Apple to take a look and maybe replace the screen. According to the site, I still have Applecare until 5/27/2014. And even if I didn't, money is no object since I have a lot that I have tucked away for emergencies (though the computer I can still use so I'm not sure if it is an emergency). Anyway, just two questions.
To get service for your Mac, you can make a reservation at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. Make sure you know your Apple ID and password before your appointment. Or, if you have a Mac notebook, contact us and we’ll send you a box you can use to ship it to an Apple Repair Center.
How long will it take them to replace the screen? Can I take the laptop home with me if I have to wait for them to order the screen and then bring it in to get it replaced when they get the part? Just wanted to update for anyone else looking for a recommendation. Went to FTP on Yet Kiew near the. The woman who helped me was very friendly and spoke decent English. She originally said it would take 3-4 days to diagnose the problem, but reduced that to one day when we said we were leaving in 4 days. Went back the next day and found out it would take 1 week to fix or 3 weeks to replace the part, so we wouldn't have time to do either. Even though she had quoted a price for the diagnosis the previous day, she told us no charge when we left.

I would have trusted them to fix it had we the time. My MacBook Air doesn't turn on anymore. When I plug it to charge and press continuously for few minutes the power on button after few times trying this finally starts and while is plugged is working without problem. I took it to FPT Services and after 2 days they told me I need to change the mother board and will cost me 10.700.000 dong (around 450€) and they need to order it from and will take 2 weeks. Because it was weird and shocking to find out I need to change the 'brain' of the computer since once open the laptop works without problem, I found it strange. So I took it to Thakral (Futureworld Apple Service) to check it as well just to convince myself is this problem.
They told me there will be a service fee of 550.000 dong just to find out the issue. FPT Services didn't charge me at all while here I payed the fee (around 25€) just to find out after 3 days that I need to change the logic board (same thing: mother board).
I asked them to open the back of it so I can take a look and see what part needs to be changed. I've seen that a little cable with a fine black part that connects to other things (sorry I'm not a technician to explain better) but was clearly bend it on one side, which made me very suspicious as obviously couldn't have been from the fabrique like that. Anyway, the lady there said that the apple services in are not authorized to make changes on the main board (including fixing it).?! But what's for sure is that my laptop doesn't turn on once is plugged in so they broke it for good or changed something in it. I wouldn't trust at all to leave any laptops with any service in Vietnam. I took my time to explain this so you don't go through this and ruin your laptop for good.
