So I logged into the MyCloud Dashboard, poked around in some settings to see what I could do, if anything, to make it secure. I installed the Antivirus Essentials app to the NAS, and then ran another scan in Avast and lo and behold: the security vulnerability had vanished (at least, according to Avast), and a couple of previously open ports were now shut. The ports that were shut by doing this were TCP Port 49152 (identified as Xsa) and UDP Port 1900 (identified as ssdp). That’s great right? Like I mentioned, I don’t know exactly what I’m doing, but Avast was telling me all was good. Feeling better about my purchase, I started using it for system backup on my Mac and PC. The next day, I did another scan, and things were back to bad.
The same warning of buffer overrun had resurfaced, and the two previously closed ports had reopened—but this time, the TCP Port identified as Xsa was port 49154 instead of the original 49152. So I have a bunch of questions but basically they boil down to: Is this cause for concern, or is it nothing? Dell photo 944 printer driver for mac. Or are these devices so fundamentally flawed that I should yank the disks out, throw the enclosure on eBay and rig up a homebrew solution instead?
