I have the same problem with playing QuickTime content in web browsers. I have MacOS 10.6.7 with pre-installed QuickTime X.
It doesnt play QuickTime movies in the web browsers. In Safari it says 'missing plugin', in Google Chrome it says 'Get QuickTime' and redirects to QuickTime 7 download page which is older than installed one. I checked both USERNAME/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ AND MAC HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folders and there is no quicktime plugin file in there. Adobe typekit for mac. Also in Safari Help/Installed plugins there is no quicktime plugin.
The QuickTime Player works normally. Any suggestions? >> i dont want to reinstall the whole OS. Will it delete all the apps and settings?
How to watch AVI movie files via the QuickTime player on a Mac/ PC. And most all-encompassing plugin that allows you to play a wide variety of video files,. Typically, if you want to play QuickTime movies at full screen you have to shell out $30 for QuickTime Pro for those older versions of Mac OS X pre Leopard, or use a third party application like VLC.
