I'm not sure what kind of Help you expect us to be able to give:-) I sincerely don't mean to be snarky, but you've chosen to use a newly-released version of Word for which a 3rd party developer [Thomson Reuters] has not yet provided a compatible version of their add-in utility. I'm afraid there's nothing anyone here can do about that. As of today the most recent info I've found on the EndNote site remains unchanged: Macintosh compatibility and system requirements What you need: EndNote X7 is not currently compatible with Microsoft Word 2016 for Mac. We are actively developing a patch for EndNote X7 and anticipate this free update to be ready in Sept/Oct. I do see on their Twitter page that there apparently is a beta getting underway.
Word 2011 for Mac (Consider downloading Word 2016 for free from the University Download Center.) If you want to continue using Word 2011, you need to download Write-N-Cite to use with RefWorks. Also, your computer must have Java for OS X 2017-001 ( download from Apple support). MS Word 2016 + EndNote X7 CWYW? Has anyone found a solution for Cite While You Write problem with MS Word 2016 for mac + EndNote X7 for mac? When I transfer the citation from Endnote to word.
If you can't/won't revert to an earlier version of Mac Office you might try taking your chances with that. I came to this 'community' page for help, I wasn't sure if you could help me or not. I don't profess to be an expert on such matters so I posted here. I appreciate that you in your reply did give me some insight into the why I am having issues. That sir should have been your only aim rather than a condescending and belittling start to your reply.
I hope that in future that if I or others who may not have your experience to find our own answers or solutions that we may be given some help and guidance with some genuine empathic understanding. Isnt this his how we all learn, by asking questions and receiving answers or guidance from others who are more experienced? When I searched the EndNote knowledge base I did not find that response you have provided me with. So for that I am grateful to you kindest regards.
